I have been involved with Scott’s House from the start as a friend to John and Glenys through the Rotary Club of Santa Fe. Members of the club and I were involved in helping Glenys move in and work on the Scott’s House grounds. We also helped with the first “open house”. I have been a member of the board since January of 2022.
Professionally as a clergy person I have been a Redeveloper for the Lutheran Church, working to turn around troubled/declining congregations in inner-city Philadelphia and suburban New Jersey. I have worked in mental health as a family therapist, a psychotherapist, and a clinical director with two mental health hospitals. I have served as a mental health consultant to US Health Care HMO. I have worked with and on the boards of various not-for-profit organizations in Philadelphia, central New Jersey and Santa Fe.
My education and training include, in addition to my BA, a master’s in theology, a master’s in counseling psychology, a master’s in family therapy and a doctorate in psychology (personality and brain function).
Dolores E. Roybal, Vice President
I am a native of northern NM (Espanola Valley) with extensive experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors including my 15-year leadership role as the Executive Director of Con Alma Health Foundation (retired). I currently serve as a nonprofit consultant and content expert on areas including board governance, nonprofit management, financial management, policy, planning & administration, grant writing, and resource development.
I have served as a member and officer of numerous local, state, and national boards including Scott’s House as of January 2022, although I have been involved with it since its inception. My former board service includes the Santa Fe Community Foundation, NM Association of Grantmakers, and national boards such as Grantmakers In Health.
My education and training include undergraduate and graduate social work degrees with a concentration in Community Services & Social Planning, and graduate studies in Organizational Behavior and Development with a focus on Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, and the Nonprofit Sector.
Antonio (Tony) Ornelas, Treasurer
I was born, raised and educated in Silver City, NM and have had a life-long career in Banking with 2026 being my 50th year in this industry. I have worked in all areas of banking including commercial and consumer credit, branch management, Private Banking including investment and wealth management. My family, my wife Priscilla and children Marisa and Matthew, and I have lived in Santa Fe for 33 years and I currently work for Enterprise Bank & Trust in the credit area of our Business Banking department.
I became familiar with Scott’s House after an introduction to Glenys Carl and John Bishop about nine years ago. Glenys became a client of our Bank, and we were able to help Scott’s House in a number of different ways. Personally, I have deep gratitude for Scott’s House after my father-in-law was cared for there from March 2021 until his death in June 2021. His care there was more than our family could hope for, and we all are extremely grateful to Scott’s House and its staff for that care.
I have served on a good number of non-profit boards in Silver City and Santa Fe and look forward to helping continue the mission and success of Scott’s House.
Dorothy (Yvonne) McKee, Secretary
I joined the Scott’s House Board in January 2026 and was recently elected as the Board Secretary. New to New Mexico and a current resident of Chimayo in the Espanola Valley,
My nursing career began in the ICU and evolved into hospice care field. I grew up with a love for camping and hiking, and I apply the principles of trail etiquette to each day at work. I was taught to value ‘leave no trace’ camping. In palliative care, I aspire to leave my interactions with patients and families better than I found them. I aim for patients to feel acknowledged and heard, and I strive to instill confidence in families as they honor their loved ones.
My formal training includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master’s in Nursing, and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certification from the American Academy Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANP) since 2014.
Roderick (Rick) A. Berardinelli, Member
I have been involved with Scott’s House since its inception and joined the board in January 2026. I am a native of Santa Fe, NM, with an extensive history of board, community and civic service and leadership. I am a life member and past president of the Santa Fe Fiesta Council and current president of the Santa Fe Fiesta Foundation. I am a 42-year member and Past President of the Santa Fe Rotary Club, a two-term member of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce, founding president and current board member of Gerard’s House Grief center. Other past activities include Open Hands, Santa Fe Community Housing Trust, Santa Fe Historic Foundation, and the Old Santa Fe Association. Additionally, I have authored numerous publications in funeral service publications and authored the Funeral Service Annex for the New Mexico Disaster Preparedness Plan.
Professionally, I was owner and manager of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service in Santa Fe for 27 years and continue to serve as president emeritus. I am a former and current member of the New Mexico State Board of Funeral Service and Past President of the New Mexico Funeral Service Association. I hold Associate in Arts degrees from Albuquerque TVI and the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. I have an have a lifelong passion for woodworking and attended Northern New Mexico Community College (Spanish Colonial Furniture Making). I love camping, fly fishing, canoeing, and communion with nature.
Sarah Boses, Executive Director
I bring more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, leadership, community service, and organizational development to my role as Executive Director of Scott’s House. I’m a registered nurse by training and spent much of my career caring for people and families during some of life’s most difficult and important moments, including extensive work in oncology.
Throughout my career, I combined hands-on caregiving with leadership and operations. I’ve led offices and organizations, developed and supported teams, built systems for quality improvement and staff development, and worked to create more patient-centered approaches to care. I also serve on the local school board, where I help guide budget priorities and advocate for students, families, and educators.
As someone born and raised in Santa Fe, I believe deeply in the power of community and in the importance of ensuring that people have dignity, compassion, and support when they need it most. I am honored to lead Scott’s House and am committed to strengthening the organization so that it can continue providing a welcoming, peaceful home and meaningful support to people at the end of life and to the families who love them.
IN MEMORIAM
John Bishop, (former) Executive Director
1946 – 2026
John served as a founding Board Member, and domestic partner of the late Scott’s House Founder, Glenys Carl. He supported Glenys and her hospice work behind the scenes for twenty plus years and as its executive director after she passed away in June 2022.
John had a corporate accounting background and was Founder and President of Norsam Technologies, Inc., and Founder and Board Member Emeritus of The MASTERS Program. He was also a Past President of the Santa Fe Rotary Club and served on other nonprofit boards in the community. John lived in Santa Fe for nearly forty years.
Glenys Carl, (former) Executive Director
1938 – 2022
Glenys Carl established Coming Home Connection in 2005 to provide free and reduced care for those near the end of life, and in 2017 she was the founding executive director of Scotts House, a hospice house to provide free residence and free care for those in need. Prior to Coming Home Connection, she served Santa Fe as a hospice caregiver. She was always an advocate for those most vulnerable in our community.
Glenys wrote two books, Hold My Hand: A Mothers Journey published by Macmillan, about her journey losing her son, Scott, and The Art and Poetry of Glenys Carl.
Scott’s House is a 3,000 square foot home located on Santa Fe’s east side. We are currently raising money for operating funds.
